Working with People for People
I've been extremely privileged to work with many organisations to help encourage people to get moving and stay active. I run weekly classes for the Saints Foundation and their Pathways to Health scheme. This involves reaching out to the older population of Southampton and encouraging them to use exercise as a way of managing many health conditions such as COPD, diabetes, hypertension and obesity. In July 2019 I completed a training course specifically aimed at those who have osteoarthritis of the knees or hips and now deliver this class, ESCAPE Pain (Enabling Self Management and Coping with Arthritic Pain using Exercise) for the Saints Foundation and Places Leisure at Romsey Rapids. In 2014 I began working with Southampton City Council and Active Nation delivering classes for Parklives. Funded by Coca Cola, this initiative was set up to encourage the nation to get active and enjoy the outdoors. Cities such as Southampton, Glasgow and London engage with thousands of people each year. In October 2019 I'll be joining local organisations in Romsey in a workshop, aimed at building and promoting activities for our older population.
